Do you make custom signs for Florence businesses?
Yes. I design and hand-paint custom signs, gold-leaf glass, window lettering, and murals for businesses in Florence and the Shoals. I've done hand-lettered glass and ghost-style signs in the Seven Points neighborhood.
Do you really travel to Florence?
I do. I'm based near Tuscaloosa, and I travel up to Florence and the Shoals for the right project. Travel gets factored into the quote, and for a full storefront or gold-leaf job it's well worth the trip.
Can you make a new sign look old or weathered?
Absolutely, it's one of my favorite styles. I hand-paint brand-new signs to look like aged ghost signs, weathered and authentic, like my piece in Florence. It reads as a piece of history even though it's freshly painted.
What is reverse-glass gold leaf?
It's real 23k gold applied to the back of the glass, so it's protected from the weather and glows when the light hits it. It's the most traditional and striking way to letter a storefront window, and it's some of my favorite Florence work.
